A mix of Parisian perfection and relaxed Australian beach side style Verane, mum of 2 and creative mind behind June Kids has created a stunning collection for girls aged 0-12.
We got to know Verane as she tells us about the journey of the June, motherhood and how she manages work life balance.
We have just received your beautiful brand JUNE KIDS in store, tell us a little about your brand and your background.
I am French and I moved to Australia 7 years ago with my husband. I immediately fell in love with Australia. The seaside living style and relaxed way of life inspired me a lot and it even stepped up when I had my first daughter. I was crazy about kid’s fashion and I realised that I could mix my two cultures, French and Australian, to create a new and original childrenswear label. And that is how the story started. I didn’t really have any knowledge in design or in manufacturing - I used to work in the “cultural field” before June - but I was driven by passion. So, I decided to learn everything from scratch and little by little June was born.
How do you balance motherhood and work?
Like all mothers I guess it is my main struggle in life. But I try to separate my work life from my family one as much as I can by putting away my phone and computer when I am with my kids.
What do you love the most about what you do?
Creation, with no doubts. I always have a little sketch book along with me to draw / note my ideas and inspirations.
What is your inspiration behind the brand?
Of course, I am really inspired by the Australian way of life, and I could define June style as “boho chic”, perfect for the Australian seaside and outdoor living. I like simple / timeless lines, and soft colours. And of course, my two daughters are my main inspiration.
How do you manage a good work life balance?
I do some running whenever I can to evacuate the stress
What’s your mumma mantra?
“Keep calm and carry on”!
But above all I try to enjoy every simple moment with my kids and focus on the essential.
What you cannot live without?
My daughters and my husband!
You live in Sydney, what are your favourite weekend breakfast spots for you and your baby girls.
I have 2 favourites spots actually:
The Organic Republic Bakery in North Bondi. And also the Grumpy Baker in Watsons Bay, they have the best “croissants” in Sydney! Trust me, I am a real Parisian “croissant addict”.
Favourite Summer holiday destination?
Byron Bay!
& Biarritz in the South West of France.
Finally, but most importantly… what is your must have piece for the season?
The Palmy playsuit in pink colour. Irresistible for Summer and one of our 'signature styles'.
